Synopsis:
Set in Toronto at the dawn of the 20th century, Murdoch Mysteries is a one-hour drama series that explores the intriguing world of William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), a methodical and dashing detective who pioneers innovative forensic techniques to solve some of the city's most gruesome murders.
Episode Synopsis:
Violet Hart and Louise Cherry attend a screening of The Adventures of Agnes, a serialized moving picture featuring rising starlet Ruth Higgins-Newsome. They're impressed with the feats of daring-do, but Cherry is admittedly jealous. She has her own serialized story and offers Ruth a swanky lunch to discuss it. They head out to Ruth's new automobile which doesn't start, so the pair set off on foot. A hotel bellman tries the ignition, but a fiery explosion kills him - the incident mimicking one of the serialized stories. Higgins is aghast, but Ruth is non-plussed. And as Murdoch investigates, he discovers some letter-writing fanatics aren't exactly ardent admirers.
